Home and garden décor superstore Garden Ridge has opened its location in Farragut.
“It’s one stop shopping for anything for the house and home,” said manager Jeffery Myers of the 160,000-square-foot Outlet Drive store.
“We are the third largest they have,” he added.
Garden Ridge sells wall art, metals, rugs, furniture and decorative accents, as well as faux greenery, candles, pillows and other home accessories. The store also offers seasonal outdoor items, such as patio and lawn furniture and garden accents.
The store doesn’t sell lawn and garden supplies, a common misconception, Myers said.
“It’s more of decorative gardening,” he added.
The Farragut Garden Ridge has one of the largest selections of wall art of any store in the chain, largely because the space — the former Turkey Creek Public Market — is so large.
“We have probably the largest assortment of wall décor, mirrors and frames,” Myers said. “We have a phenomenal wall décor section: alternative art, studio art, gallery art, accent art. We’ve got art,” manager Kristal Ray said.
Garden Ridge in Farragut opened in January, Myers said, but the store is still not fully stocked. Seasonal spring and summer items, such as patio furniture and cushions and decorative lawn and garden items, will continue to be delivered.
“We’re probably about a third full. We’re going to be getting a lot of furniture in and a lot of bedding,” he said.
According to Ray and Myers, Garden Ridge stocks an enormous array not only of products, but of variations of each product in colors, patterns, size and price range.
“Every day is amazing here because there’s something new coming out,” Myers said.
Other items Garden Ridge offers include luggage, bohemian dresses, chef uniforms and scrubs.
“It’s a very lucrative market for Garden Ridge, the scrubs. They do very well,” Ray said.
“You’ll find things here you won’t find in most stores,” Ray said.
Myers said Garden Ridge targeted the Knoxville area market and, specifically the former Public Market for its size.
“Knoxville is just a great market to come into. If it doesn’t exist in Turkey Creek, it just doesn’t exist in the world probably,” Myers said.
“It’s a point of destination,” he added.
Garden Ridge is a privately held company based in Texas, operating 58 stores across the nation. Myers said the company has plans to continue expansion through the country, and often looks for existing, large buildings.
